Call for Help for Marilao Central School

On September 26, 2009, Typhoon Ondoy devastated the island of Luzon, Philippines. Among the hardest hit towns in Central Luzon is Marilao, Bulacan, where to this day many residents are in need of rescue and relief.

Among the establishments that suffered during the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy is Marilao Central School. For generations, Marilao Central School has stood as a haven for the town's children, a place where they could grow in mind, spirit and body. More than just a public elementary school, it has been a second home to many promising young BulakeƱos through the years.

We humbly ask for the assistance of the international community. Many of our school's resources have been destroyed and some of our important learning facilities, such as our library and science center, are badly in need of rehabilitation. Only 12 out of 40 classrooms were spared the worst.

We are urgently in need of the following:

- Cash donations, for rebuilding, repainting and cleanup

- Books and other educational materials for elementary school level readers

- Visual aids for elementary school teachers

- Computers and other learning gadgets, electric fans

- School supplies, such as pencils, ballpens, notebooks, art paper, etc.

With your help, we can recover more quickly from the damage caused by Typhoon Ondoy to our school.

We - the teachers, students and employees of Marilao Central School - would be truly grateful for any assistance you can provide.

Teodora B. Arcega

Principal II
